Overview
This case study examines the rapid installation of our 14R Bundle in Hatay Expo after a devastating earthquake struck Turkiye on February 6, 2023. The earthquake severely damaged the region's infrastructure, causing a water shortage and posing a significant risk to the affected population. To address this urgent need, two of our volunteers efficiently installed the water tank in just one day. The tank was installed nearby their existing kitchen tent on-site to cater to the kitchen. Now, Deploy’s tank provided a centralized cooking facility capable of preparing and serving a large volume of meals.
Application
In this case, 14R Bundle played a crucial role in the aftermath of the disaster by providing potable water for a soup kitchen which was providing food over 1000 people per meal. Our water tank primarily caters to the kitchen's cooking needs, and the 14R outlet is specifically designed to adapt to various situations. It can connect to the pump and effectively supply water for the kitchen.
Installation Challenges
1. The soup kitchen was located in an EXPO space. There was little to no space for a water tank as the retrofitted settlement took up so much of the space. Deploy's tank was installed at the back side of the soup kitchen in a confined space. Another tank of this size would not be possible to access to the location selected.
2. There was a readily available concrete base where the installation would be made.
3. This tank was done by one Deploy volunteer alone.
